Department of Urdu, Government M.A.O. Graduate College has been functioning since establishment of the college. Many eminent literary personalities like Tehseen Firaqi, Amjad Islam Amjad, Ata-ul-Haq Qasmi, Hafeez Siddiqi, Tufail Dara have served in this department. Professor Mazhar-ul-Hassan Mirza is the current head of the department. The faculty is comprised of highly qualified members with most of them pursuing the Doctorate in their subject. There is a prodigious library with most modern collection of books. It has a huge store of all Urdu date knowledge of their subject in addition to aesthetic pleasure.
Department of Urdu offers 4-Years BS (Hons.) program and has always earned appreciation for its results.
